The emperor penguin grows to a height of up to 1.25 m and can weigh as much as 45 kg. They are excellent, fast swimmers. Emperor penguins can reach speeds of up to 30 km/h and dive down to 400 m. On land, penguins waddle or slide on their bellies, propelling themselves along with their feet or flippers.
